These first emigrants from Perche were well-accustomed to a forest environment. However they first needed to confront the ocean and its storms. On arrival, they had to cohabit with the Amerindian peoples.
These emigrants knew only a temperate climate. They had to face winters as harsh as they were interminable. Used to easy, shady paths, and crossing modest streams at fords, suddenly they had to travel in small boats and confront ice and rapids. Their determination allowed them to settle, build, clear land, and found a country.
An adventure worthy of some of the most beautiful pages in human history.
